Busy End of Term for Food Technology

It has been a busy end to the 2022 year for the Food Technology department. Both Year 9 and 10 Food Technology students have recently completed their last assessment for the course.

Year 9 completed a Cannelloni with Salad Practical Examination. Year 10 Food Technology completed a Chicken Cordon Bleu with Honey Carrots, Green Beans and Opera House Potatoes recipe. We were very impressed with the results and pleased that the students displayed excellent time management skills. The students also had to ensure that they worked collaboratively and paid attention to detail with the final presentation.

Year 11 Food Technology have just started their HSC course. They are currently completing a unit on Contemporary Nutrition Issues. They have just submitted their first HSC Task where they needed to research a specific diet-related condition. During the term, they had to complete some practicals that looked at health and nutrition.  A great start to their HSC studies.

Year 11 Hospitality have completed their HSC work placement. The employers were very impressed with each student, and some were even offered part time work as a result. Hospitality students also completed their barista training as part of the course and have gained valuable skills in espresso coffee preparation and service.
