Designed to foster problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking, iSTEM provides students with hands-on learning experiences that mirror real-world applications. The course aligns with the NSW Department of Education’s focus on future-focused learning, supporting students in developing skills essential for emerging industries and careers in STEM fields.
STEM thinkers all think about problems in different ways:
- Scientist – want to prove or disprove ideas so they know WHY things are like they are.
- Technologist – want to solve problems by using ideas and tools
- Engineer – make sure that ideas and solutions work.
- Mathematician – want to think about HOW things are like they are

STEM Olympiad Challenge
Through the iSTEM course, students engage in inquiry project-based projects that explore topics including, engineering structures, advance manufacturing, mechatronics and robotics, critical thinking and aeronautical engineering.
This subject promotes collaboration and the use of the Engineering Design Process, encouraging students to investigate, design, test, and evaluate solutions to complex problems. By engaging with current technologies and challenges, iSTEM empowers students to become confident, innovative thinkers prepared for the opportunities of the 21st-century workforce.
