Book Week Celebrations
18.08.23
Last week the library was buzzing with all things books!

We had daily competitions, Kahoot, the Harry Potter Scavenger Hunt, Legoland and a heap of other book related activities. The boys were great participants, and their competitive nature really shone through with the highly coveted book bundles and canteen vouchers up for grabs daily.

Our Harry Potter Scavenger Hunt saw the boys working together around the school to solve the clues to unlock the magical treasure at the end. We realised during this challenge just how much boys are motivated by lollies and chocolate.

On Thursday book week finished with a bang with staff and students coming dressed as their favourite book characters. The photobooth was one of the highlights of the week and it was great to see staff and students embrace their inner child and have some fun all in the name of reading for pleasure.

This Tuesday to continue our Book Week celebrations we had Author Steven Herrick visiting Years 7, 8 and 9. Steven is the author of twenty-eight books for children and young adults. His books have twice won the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards; been shortlisted for the CBCA Book of the Year Awards on ten occasions; and been shortlisted for a number of other awards in Australia including the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award and the Qld Premier’s Literary Award. We are very excited and honoured to have him here to talk to our students.

Thank you to all the staff and students who were involved in creating games and promoting book week and a special thank you to all who came dressed up – it created a wonderful atmosphere. Also a big congratulations to all our competition winners – many of who will be announced at assembly this week.

We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
