Students examined the role of art as a powerful medium for storytelling, cultural expression, and truth-telling. As part of their assessment task, each student created an artwork that represented a story of personal significance—drawing on themes such as family, connection to place, and important life experiences.
Once completed, students reflected on their creative process and analysed the meaning within their artworks, considering how symbols, colours, and composition communicated their chosen story. This process not only developed their understanding of Aboriginal art traditions but also encouraged them to think deeply about how art can convey complex ideas and emotions.
Two exemplary student works are featured below, showcasing the creativity, insight, and personal expression demonstrated in the unit.
