Welcome to Mr Damien Chase

Mr Damien Chase
We are delighted to welcome Mr Damien Chase to the St Edward’s College community as our Acting Deputy Principal while Mr Bonnici is on leave. Mr Chase brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to student wellbeing and learning. We look forward to the leadership and insight he will bring to our College during his time with us.
NAIDOC Week: Strength, Vision & Legacy
We began the term with a vibrant and meaningful celebration of NAIDOC Week, embracing this year’s theme:
“The Next Generation – Strength, Vision & Legacy.”
Our community was honoured to welcome Brad Twynham, who delivered a powerful Welcome to Country that finished a week of reflection, celebration, and connection. Brad invited us to sing in language, dance together, and reflect deeply on what it means to be a learner and a leader in today’s world.
A highlight of Brad’s message was his introduction to the ‘five brains’ recognised by First Nations peoples—encouraging us to lead not only with our head, but also with our heart, gut, intuition, and spirit. This holistic view of leadership resonated strongly with students and staff, reminding us of the deep wisdom embedded in Indigenous culture and the importance of leading with empathy, courage, and connection.
It was a powerful start to the term—one that inspired us to think deeply about the legacy we are creating for future generations.
Learning Conferences
Thank you to the many parents who have scheduled meetings with teachers for the second round of Learning Conferences. These meetings are a vital opportunity to receive feedback on student progress, celebrate achievements, and identify areas for continued growth.
Our approach encourages students to take an active role in these conversations, fostering ownership of their learning journey. By leading discussions with their parents and teachers, students are empowered to set meaningful goals and work collaboratively toward achieving them.
These conferences are strategically timed to:
- Provide feedback to students in Years 7–10 following their Semester One Academic Reports
- Guide Year 11 students as they near the completion of their Preliminary Courses
- Support Year 12 students in preparation for their upcoming Trial HSC Examinations
Year 12 HSC Trial Examinations
Year 12 students will sit their Trial HSC Examinations from Monday, August 4 to Monday, August 18. These exams play a significant role in determining the final HSC Assessment mark submitted to NESA.
Students are encouraged to develop a structured revision plan in consultation with their teachers to ensure they are well-prepared. The examination timetable is available on the Compass portal and on Year 12 Compass Schedules.
We wish all Year 12 students the very best in their preparations and performance.
