Edmund Rice Education Australia Touchstone

Gospel Spirituality

As a Catholic School in the Edmund Rice tradition, we nurture and encourage the spiritual growth of each person through reflection, prayer, symbols, sacred stories, rituals and sacraments

Holy Thursday Easter Liturgy

As a Catholic school conducted in the traditions of Edmund Rice, it is important that we take time as a community to reflect on the important sacred stories that underpin our faith and our values. Easter and the sacred story of Jesus’ death and resurrection is one of the central Holy Days of Christianity. It honours the resurrection of Jesus three days after his death by crucifixion. Easter is the joyful conclusion of the Lenten Season of prayer.

On Thursday March 28, the St Edward’s and St Joseph’s communities will join in celebration of Easter and Holy Week, through a combined liturgy. The exceptional talents of students from each school will be on display in musical items, liturgical dances and a drama representation of the Stations of the Cross. This annual event and the telling of the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection in a relevant and engaging way, combined with prayerful reflection, is designed to foster the spirituality of all community members and deepen our understanding of the importance of Easter.

I would like to thank the many staff and students from each College who are involved in planning and performing in this wonderful celebration of our faith.

Learning Conferences

I would like to remind families of the importance of the Learning Conferences which are taking place on Wednesday March 27 from 4.00 pm to 7.30 pm online and then again on Tuesday April 2 from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm via face-to face meetings with teachers.

Bookings are to be made via PTO and information was emailed to families regarding this process earlier this week. No classes are scheduled on Tuesday April 2 to allow teachers to participate in these conferences and classes will recommence on Wednesday April 3.

Primary School Enrichment Day Program

On Thursday April 4, the College will be hosting selected boys and girls in Years 4 and 5 from Catholic Primary Schools across the Central Coast, for the first of five enrichment days planned for the year. This program is being implemented in partnership with St Joseph’s College and is designed to provide an opportunity for younger students, who demonstrate talents in various areas of their learning, to participate in a range of activities to extend their knowledge. The program will be facilitated by teachers and students from St Edward’s and St Joseph’s, building on the wonderful relationship that exists between Catholic Schools on the Central Coast.

The table below outlines the program for these enrichment days throughout the year.

Term Learning Area Host School
1 Robotics St Edward’s College
2 Music St Edward’s College
3 Science St Joseph’s College
4 Drama St Joseph’s College
4 Visual Arts St Edward’s College

Year 12 Mid-Course Exams

Year 12 Students will be sitting their Higher School Certificate Mid-Course examinations in the last two weeks of term. These examinations provide students with a very good indication of the progress that they are making in each of their subjects. Students have been provided with an examination timetable and are only required to attend school to sit the examinations. A copy of the examination timetable is available on the students’ portal and on the College website via HSC Mid-Course Exam Schedule. Students are welcome to use the Shanahan Learning Centre during the examination block to study and many Year 12 teachers will be on hand to assist boys in their preparation for the exams. I wish all Year 12 the best of luck in these examinations.
