Black Diamond Adventure Camp, Galston
Year 7 had only just begun their high school journey a few weeks before departure, which made their enthusiasm and readiness to dive into camp life all the more impressive. Their excitement was contagious from the very first moment.
Setting up tents proved challenging, yet the boys approached it with determination, carefully organising their gear and preparing for an afternoon filled with exhilarating activities. They were ably supported by the Year 11 Outdoor Recreation students, who guided them through each step—helping with tents, offering tips during activities, and assisting during meal times. Their guidance ensured that everyone could fully participate and feel confident in new experiences.
From the thrill of abseiling and the high-speed rush of the Flying Fox, to the daring Leap of Faith and the balance-testing Burma Bridge, each activity invited students to step beyond their comfort zones. Whether building and racing their own rafts, mastering stand-up paddle boarding and canoeing, taking aim with the slingshot, or navigating new terrain through orienteering, every challenge was a chance to grow. Watching students face their fears, encourage one another, and celebrate personal milestones was truly inspiring.
Beyond the excitement of adventure, the heart of the camp lay in fostering friendships and a strong sense of belonging within the year group. Students were encouraged to reach out, connect, and embrace the chance to form new friendships. The camp provided a warm and welcoming start to what promises to be an exciting high school journey.
