Celebrating International Women's Day

March 19, 2026

Balancing the Scales for Equality

In Week 6, our school community came together to celebrate International Women’s Day, recognising the achievements, resilience, and contributions of women and girls both locally and globally. This year’s international theme, “Give to Gain,” and Australia’s focus on “Balancing the Scales for Equality,” encouraged students to reflect on how they can contribute to a fairer, more inclusive world.

In homerooms, students engaged in meaningful conversations about the significance of the day and signed pledges committing themselves to positive action in their daily lives. These pledges highlight our collective responsibility to foster respect, equality, and understanding.

During the assembly, we were fortunate to hear from our student speakers, Seamus and Rasmus, as well as students from St Joseph’s College, who delivered thoughtful and impactful reflections on the importance of recognising the women in our lives and acknowledging the challenges that still exist. Their presentation was received with enthusiasm and respect, marking the assembly as a great success.

International Women’s Day serves as a powerful reminder that when we work together -students, staff, men, and women, we help create a stronger, fairer society for the future.
