Year 8 student Brychan Drewe has achieved outstanding success in water polo, earning recognition at state and national levels.
In December, Brychan represented the Central Coast water polo team at the NSW State Championships, where his team delivered an exceptional performance to claim first place and secure the gold medal.
Following this impressive result, Brychan was nominated to trial for the prestigious NSW Water Polo Academy. His hard work and talent paid off, and he was successfully selected for a place in the academy squad.
Brychan’s achievements continued in April when his Central Coast team competed at the Australian Youth Water Polo Championships in Brisbane. Facing strong competition from teams across Australia, as well as an international team from New Zealand, Brychan and his teammates finished an impressive 5th in the nation.
In recognition of his sporting success at nationals, Brychan was recently invited to an afternoon tea with Dr Gordon Reid as a recipient of a local sporting championship award.
Adding to an already remarkable year, Brychan has now been selected through the NSW Academy to compete in one of three NSW teams at the upcoming East Coast Challenge in Victoria this July. This tournament will see elite water polo squads from around the country compete at a high level.
