Founder’s Day Mass
The College Founder's Day Mass at St Edward's once again stood out as a special and truly memorable occasion, emblematic of the strong bonds within the College community. The event was graced by numerous distinguished guests, each with a connection to the College spanning many years. It was heartening to witness the presence of former Christian Brothers, Principals, and esteemed members of the EREA community, all coming together to honour the College's legacy. Throughout the ceremony, the students exemplified reverence, respect, and a deep sense of prayerfulness, reflecting the values instilled within them by the College. Under the guidance of Father Vince Casey, who presided over the Mass, the atmosphere was one of solemnity and spiritual significance. A special commendation is owed to the talented musicians, comprising both staff and students, whose performances enriched the Mass with their melodic renditions. The band, meticulously prepared by Mrs Rankin and Mr Toole, showcased their dedication and skill, enhancing the overall ambiance of the ceremony with their harmonious contributions. Heartfelt appreciation extends to all who played a part in this magnificent community celebration. Their collective efforts and commitment have undoubtedly contributed to making this Founder's Day Mass a cherished and memorable event for all who attended. Over 250 students from more than 30 schools gathered in our hall, the Edmund Rice Centre, where they received a heartfelt welcome from our Principal, Mr Bonnici. The day was filled with a variety of engaging activities carefully crafted to provide Year 6 students with a glimpse into life as an 'Eddies' young man. These activities included: Science: Students engaged in captivating demonstrations designed to ignite their curiosity and passion for the sciences. Art: In the Art room, students explored their creativity and honed their skills under the guidance of their teachers. Music: Led by music teachers and student musicians, the boys had the chance to experiment with musical instruments and participate in a brief performance. Woodwork: In the woodwork room, students acquired fundamental woodworking skills, crafting a simple project through hands-on experience. PDHPE (Physical Development, Health, and Physical Education): This session emphasised physical activity and teamwork. Library Learning Centre: Students delved into the College’s library, discovering the array of resources available to support their learning and research. Fun and Friendship at Year 7 Camp
On Wednesday, 14 February, 187 Year 7 students embarked on their inaugural College camp. The boys had only begun their school journey eight days prior to departure, making their eagerness and readiness to participate commendable. Over the course of three days, the boys encountered a range of weather conditions while engaging in various activities. During tent setup, the heat was intense, raising a few concerns and requiring a few adjustments.  Nonetheless, all students persevered, diligently applying sunscreen and preparing for a packed afternoon of activities. The activities encompassed Abseiling, Flying Fox, Leap of Faith, Burma Bridge, Raft Building, Stand-Up Paddle Boarding, Slingshot, Canoeing, and Orienteering. Witnessing each student overcome personal challenges with determination was truly inspiring. The primary goal of this camp was to foster connections and a sense of belonging within their new year group. I encouraged all students to forge new friendships during the three days, hoping they embraced this opportunity. Bringing together 193 students from diverse educational backgrounds marked a heartening start to their high school journey. Mr Marks Year 7 Pastoral Leader   [smallgallery fooid="50194"]
