Year 11 Ancient History Debate
20.08.18
Where would you rather be a woman, Ancient Greece or Ancient Rome?

The Year 11 Ancient History students were split into two teams to debate, ‘Where would you rather be a woman, Ancient Greece or Ancient Rome?’ It was a close call with both sides focusing on marriage customs, property ownership and the right to manage businesses, but the Greeks took the win.

The Spartan Greeks really came in and helped their Athenian partners with some well delivered rhetoric on athleticism, singing and religious roles. Question time got heated with some key Romans unhappy with the lack of historical credibility of some of the Greeks’ arguments. The spoils of victory were shared though by the leading Greek stoic, Mason McAlister.
