Reconciliation Week

The College highlights this important national event each year, via a range of in-class and outdoor activities, in Religious Education and across other Curriculum areas, as we:

REMEMBER

RESPECT

ACKNOWLEDGE

MOVE FORWARD

as a nation, so affected by our past injustices for our First People.

The riots in the USA create a sad connection and reminder of the paralleling two stories. We remember the 432 Aboriginal deaths in custody since 1991, the massacres, the Stolen Generation and dispossession of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. We move forward together culturally,  full of hope, optimism and pride in what Australians have achieved together for so many years.

The College is proud to work with and support our local Aboriginal community, our Indigenous students and our ongoing connection with Walgett, University of Newcastle Wollotuka Institute and other connections. We also show support through our signs and symbols throughout the College which serve to remind us, on a daily basis, of our connection with Aboriginal land and our First People.

Waterford

Please check with your son about his progress with Waterford, which he can achieve at home in 2020. A reminder that each bag of clothes or food donated to Coast Shelter, St Vincent de Paul, The Salvation Army or any other charitable group, earns 1 Waterford hour.  If you have any concerns or questions, please contact me on 4321 6439.
