Edmund Rice Education Australia Touchstones

Liberating Education

As a Catholic School in the Edmund Rice tradition, we are committed to enabling students to experience personal achievement within a safe, supportive and healthy environment.

Welcome to the Start of the Year.

I welcome all students and families to the start of the 2022 school year. Once again, this year we are challenged by new protocols and restrictions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and I am pleased to report that even with the uncertainty that still may exist, it has been a very smooth start to the year. We welcomed 216 new Year 7 students to the College and it has been great to see how well they have already begun the transition to high school. We also commenced the year with one of the largest total enrolments for many years with a total of 1080 students enrolled.

I would like to thank the many families who have supported the measures that we have developed in relation to the Rapid Antigen Home Testing procedures. The overwhelming majority of families have collected kits and commenced testing. This is a wonderful show of support by the whole community to ensure that we are doing all that we can to safeguard members of our community.

I will continue to provide you with weekly updates on how we are managing COVID-19, providing any further updates to the guidelines as require.

We are looking forward to the easing of restrictions so that we can reintroduce the many wonderful learning experiences that we have planned for the year and that our normal school day, including the important community events such as College Masses, whole school assemblies and extra-curricular activities, can begin. In the meantime, our focus continues to be on providing the best quality teaching and learning within the safety guidelines and protocols as possible.

2021 HSC Results

I would like to congratulate the 2021 Year 12 Graduating class on their outstanding HSC results. This cohort was faced with the most challenging learning environment which spread across their final two senior years. Despite the disruption to learning, their resilience, patience, and hard work in partnership with their teachers determined they were able to achieve some of the best HSC results of the last ten years. Our results reflect a continued trend in improvement at the College.  Our boys attained our highest number of top band results or equivalent for the last ten years (39) and 73% of our boys achieved results in the top 3 bands – well done!

William Goodwin-Moore

Special mention should be made of William Goodwin-Moore who was recognised as an all-rounder (top band in all subjects).  Congratulations to our 21 boys on the NESA distinguished achievers list and five students nominated to exhibit their major works in Drama, Art and Multi-Media.

We look forward to sharing further information with you about the success of Year 12, 2021 in the areas of apprenticeships, job uptake and university entry as that information becomes available in the coming months.

Well done to all our students, teachers and support staff for their hard work and achievements.
