News from the Visual Arts Faculty
07.02.22
As the new year starts, we must take time to congratulate those senior Visual Arts students who completed their Bodies of Work under trying circumstances.

A special mention goes to Jaden Beard and Will Jacobsen, for having their work accepted into Art Express and Hurstville Zoomers Exhibitions, respectively.

Jaden’s work, “Sacre”, is a collection of Video, installation and voiceover that portray his deep connection to the ocean and to being underwater.

Will’s work, “Loneliness is a Feeling”, demonstrates through animation the trials of loneliness and the ways in which it affects the human psyche.

The next batch of HSC Visual Arts students have begun toiling away at their Bodies of Work. So far their ideas have morphed from drawing, painting, sculpture, graphic design, ceramics and photography. The boys must produce evidence of their work using their Art Diary and have found an artist whom influences their style.

Year 11 Visual Arts students have started working on portraiture and ink drop charcoal drawings. Year 11 Photography are using film cameras (yes, they do exist!) and working on learning their way around the darkroom.

It is exciting to be able to continue with practical lessons in the face of COVID limitations – the Year 7’s and 8’s have had a whole semester of practical lessons lost last year, so it’s exciting to see what they will produce!
