At the heart of the Academy is a commitment to building an inclusive community. Students of all backgrounds and abilities are welcomed and supported, with a focus on teamwork, mutual respect and shared success. As part of this commitment, Academy players take pride in running an annual Year 5 Football Gala Day for our local Catholic feeder primary schools—an event that celebrates participation, connection, and the joy of the game while strengthening ties with our wider community.
In 2025, the Academy proudly fields playing squads in Years 8, 9, and 10, providing students with the opportunity to represent the College in competitive football while continuing their development through structured training and match play.
Selection into the Academy is based on a rigorous screening process, ensuring that a transparent and criteria-based approach is used to identify students who demonstrate not only footballing potential but also the character and commitment aligned with the values of the College. This process is designed to select students who are well-suited to thrive in the program and contribute positively to the Academy’s culture.
In partnership with the Central Coast Football Association, the Academy follows the coaching frameworks of Football Australia and the English Football Association. This ensures our players benefit from modern, evidence-based training that supports long-term development.

The program is guided by a spirit of solidarity, where students learn to support one another, work collaboratively and represent their College with pride. These values are embedded in every training session, match and team experience.
Led by experienced and accredited coaches, the Academy offers:
- Specialised training sessions tailored to age and ability
- Competitive match opportunities at local school and club levels
- Individual development plans focusing on technical, tactical, physical, and mental growth
- Leadership and mentoring experiences that extend into the wider community
The Academy also reflects the College’s dedication to social justice, encouraging students to use their talents and leadership to make a positive impact within and beyond the sporting arena. Through community engagement and service, players learn the importance of giving back.
Finally, the Academy is grounded in the College’s commitment to spirituality. Students are encouraged to play with integrity, humility, and a sense of purpose, guided by the values of the Edmund Rice tradition.
Whether you aspire to play at an elite level or simply love the game, the St Edward’s Football Academy offers a supportive and challenging environment where every student can thrive.
