Stage 5

Religion Year 9 and 10

In this subject, designed by the Catholic Schools Office, students undertake a study of Religion in our contemporary culture. The aim is to provide students with opportunities for clarifying their own beliefs and values through an appreciation of the Christian Religious traditions, particularly our Catholic story.

  • Catholic Beliefs and Practices
  • Catholic Ethical Teaching – The Beatitudes
  • Contemporary Ministry – Church in Action

 

Assessment

Will be included in most topics and include examinations, film studies, portfolios, research assignments, class and home tasks.

Compulsory Retreat Days

Year 9 participates in a one-day retreat programme focused on valuing the gift of life. Year 10 concentrate on relationships with others and God, participating in an extended day retreat. Opportunity is provided for all students to participate in the creation and experience of liturgy at a class and whole school level.
